qr.studio is a free QR code generator. You can use it without an account. This page explains what data is processed when you use the site and why.
Who is responsible
qr.studio
What you enter in the generator
To draw your QR code, the content you type (for example a link, Wi-Fi details or contact data) and any logo you upload are sent to our server. The server creates the image files and sends them back to you. These files are stored in a temporary folder and deleted automatically after about one hour. We do not use this content for anything else and we do not sell it.
The finished QR code contains your data in plain form. Anyone who scans it can read it, so only put in a code what you want to share.
Link pages (qr.studio/@name)
If you create a link page, we store what you put on it (name, bio, photo, links, social profiles and design) so we can show it publicly at its address. Anyone can see this content, so do not add private information. Your photo is converted to a small image and the original file is not kept.
We do not ask for an email or an account. Instead you get a private edit link; we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of it, so we cannot recover it for you. To limit abuse we store, with your page, a hashed value of the IP address it was created from. The hash uses a secret that changes every day, so it cannot be turned back into your IP address or matched across days. We count page views and link clicks so you can see them; these counts are approximate. Your page and this data are kept until you delete the page with your edit link, or until we remove it for breaking our terms. If someone reports a page, we store the report text and a hashed value of their IP address, made the same way, until the page is deleted.
Server logs
Like every website, our server records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and referring page. We use these logs only to keep the service secure and working, for example to block abuse, and delete them after a limited period.
Cloudflare
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and speeds up loading. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request data for this purpose. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Maps and address search
The generator page includes a map from OpenStreetMap, used by the Location type. Loading the page can send your IP address and browser data to OpenStreetMap's map servers, and addresses you search for in the Location type are sent to OpenStreetMap too. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Cookies
We set one technical cookie that remembers your language for the visit. It contains no personal data and is deleted when you close the browser. Link pages and the link page editor set no cookies.
Advertising
To keep qr.studio free, we may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners can use cookies to show ads and measure them, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads or such cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage personalised ads in Google Ads Settings.
Legal basis
We process data to provide the service you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), for our legitimate interest in a secure and working site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for personalised advertising, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not keep accounts or the content of your codes, we usually hold no data that can be linked to you.
